چکیده
PurposeTo evaluate the technical and diagnostic performance of three dimensional (3D) mDIXON versus 3D inversion recovery (3D VIAB) spectral presaturation with SPIR) late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) sequences.MethodsA total 78 patients (50 males 28 females, age 49 ± 18 years) 1.5 T CMR examination including different LGE sequences mDIXON, VIAB, were evaluated for by two readers. Qualitative scores quantitative signal contrast-to-noise ratios compared among sequences. comparisons made using Friedman Wilcoxon signed rank tests. Quantitative one way ANOVA. Reader agreements tested Cohen’s Kappa. Any p-value <0.05 was significant.Results19 out (24 %) excluded due to poor (grade 4) image quality 29 absence LGE. For remaining 30 patients, free breathing showed higher confidence in diagnosis subepicardial (p-value < 0.05). outperformed SPIR both visualization (p = 0.02) fat suppression 0.001). Nevertheless, lower other sequences.ConclusionFree is a problem-solving tool, especially when making and/or needed, owing its high spatial resolution robust suppression. Choice sequence should be based on patient’s breath-hold ability, needs, institutional availability considering strengths limitations each sequence.

3D late gadolinium enhancement in a single prolonged breath-hold using supplemental oxygenation and hyperventilation.
PURPOSE To evaluate the feasibility of three-dimensional (3D) single breath-hold late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) of the left ventricle (LV) using supplemental oxygen and hyperventilation and compressed-sensing acceleration. METHODS Breath-hold metrics [breath-hold duration, diaphragmatic/LV position drift, and maximum variation of R wave to R wave (RR) interval] without and with supplementa...
متن کاملTime-resolved early-to-late Gadolinium enhancement MRI using single breath-hold 3D spiral imaging
Background The assessment of myocardial infarction (MI) heterogeneity using late Gadolinium enhancement (LGE) MRI has been limited to static analysis at single late postinjection time. We developed a rapid single breath-hold LGE MRI method using a novel parallel imaging accelerated 3D spiral acquisition. We propose to use this technique to capture temporal variation in scar enhancement at early...
متن کامل3D free-breathing late gadolinium enhancement 3T MRI: comparison with standard 2D Imaging
Background Clinical cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is routinely performed during multiple breathholds in predefined 2D image orientations. 3D CMR is desirable, since it allows post-acquisition reformatting in any desired imaging plane. However, 3D CMR is hampered by long breath-hold duration, introducing patient discomfort and technical limitations. These limitations can be ove...
متن کاملFree-breathing 3D phase-sensitive inversion recovery late gadolinium enhancement at 3.0 Tesla: reliability and image quality in ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy in comparison with multiple breath-hold 3D imaging
Background In both ischemic (ICM) and non-ischemic (NICM) cardiomyopathy late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) is an important cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) technique. LGE CMR, traditionally performed in 2D during multiple breath-holds (MB), is challenging for vulnerable patients and subject to slice misregistration. Therefore, LGE CMR during free-breathing (FB) is more robust and enables...
متن کاملFree-breathing Delayed-enhancement 3D MRI With and Without Phase-sensitive Inversion-Recovery
Introduction Free-breathing 3D delayed-enhancement MRI (DE-MRI) has been developed to improve the spatial resolution of the DE-MRI, to generate multi-planar reconstruction, and to eliminate the laborious breath-holds. However, the gadolinium washout during the 4-11-min (mean, about 7 min) scan of the free-breathing 3D DE-MRI may reduce the image contrast because of gadolinium washout from the m...
